A formally registered national political party and the most nationally expansive component of TPA. Emerging from a strong trade union and civil rights tradition, including the Democratic Workers Congress, DPF has an island-wide presence across Colombo, Kandy, Kegalle, Ratnapura, Kurunegala, Matale, Kalutara, Badulla and Nuwara Eliya. It acts as the bridge between the upcountry community and Sri Lanka's broader democratic and institutional landscape.

National Union of Workers

Deepest ground-level organisational strength and cadre structures

One of the most historically rooted and organisationally disciplined plantation workers' movements in Sri Lanka, founded by V. K. Vellayan and early worker-leaders. With a strong presence in Nuwara Eliya and surrounding plantation regions, NUW evolved beyond labour representation into a development-oriented political force, anchoring the Alliance in the everyday realities of the plantation regions.

Up-Country People's Front

Historic upcountry political identity and reformist tradition

Founded by the late P. Chandrasekaran as a reformist and transformative movement for the upcountry Tamil community, UPF represented a break from purely estate-based politics. It has played decisive roles in national political transitions and contributes cultural-spiritual legitimacy that connects politics with community values and dignity.
